Education in its general sense is
a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, beliefs and habits of people
are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching training and
research. Education is most important in ones life. Religious and secular are
two kinds of education without education man cannot recognize even himself
.Education in Pakistan is not as good as in other countries. In fact its
declining day by day. Especially in backward areas proper education system does
not even exist. Ratio of education is nearly 56% literate and literacy rates
are even lower for rural poor and for women.
Here I am discussing the issue of
my own province Punjab. Many advanced schools colleges universities have been
established in big cities but small cities mostly villages are the same as they
were 60year before. Medium of education is very different b/w Govt. and Private
sector and widened the gap of advancement b/w both sectors. Making the Govt.
sector very weak and outdated various educational boards as British board
comprising of O levels and A levels and Punjab board comprising of intermediate
and secondary education is creating vast difference in standard of education.
And remaining damage is being done by English medium and Urdu medium teaching
style in different schools. A great fact for all this is day by day increasing
inflation and poverty. In rural areas where the Govt. has been failing in
convincing parents to send their children to school as in rural areas of Punjab
still the ratio of students is 10.3% respectively which is very low. The
allocation of budget for the education is very low. Provincial govt. has still
not shown a positive intent to improve education level in the province as still
a very limited and insufficient budget is being allocated to the education
ministry of province.
Another fact is that there are no schools,
colleges, electricity, gas, and no other facilities in rural areas. People
living there are spending the lives as they are living in eighties. The biggest
main thing that should be meditated by the govt. is that govt. must pay much
more attention to improve quality of life then quality of education there. If
there is no electricity no gas no other basic facilities for the children what
benefit a laptop, solar, or any other scholarship given to student will
provide, where they do not get their basic needs fulfilled.so in my opinion a
lot of need is to focus on rural areas for their improvement in all aspects of
life then standard of education will be automatically rise and improve.
