Naheed Islam is 26 years old and is a student of Sociology Department of Dhaka University. He was against the policies of Hasina Wajid. In June, he started raising his voice against the government policies. The movement started which later became the basis for the end of Hasina Wajid's 16-year rule. In these two months, the government declared Naheed Islam a terrorist, cracked down on him and picked him up from the police house. He was taken away, brutally tortured, and thrown under a bridge in Dhaka when he was completely unconscious. He was arrested again on July 26, but by then things had changed.
The police were panicked, the students continued to advance and the government retreated and this retreat finally ended with the escape of Hasina Wajid on August 5.
